The scale of electronic component industry has exceeded 2 trillion

On September 20, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held the ninth "vigorously developing a new generation of information technology industry" theme press conference in the series of "Industrial and Information Development in the New Era" to introduce the main achievements of the new generation of information technology industry since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and answer reporters' questions.

The relevant person in charge pointed out that since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the scale efficiency of China's new generation of information technology industry has increased steadily, the innovation ability has been continuously enhanced, the strength of enterprises has been continuously improved, and the application of the industry has continued to deepen, providing an important guarantee for economic and social development.

In the past ten years, the average annual growth rate of the added value of China's electronic information manufacturing industry has reached 11.6%; The revenue of software and information technology service industry increased from 2.5 trillion yuan to 9.5 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 16%.

China has formed the world's largest production and marketing scale, relatively complete categories, the industrial chain is basically complete electronic components industrial system, the overall scale of electronic components industry has exceeded 2 trillion yuan. In 2021, the main links of the photovoltaic industry chain will account for more than 70% of the global output of polysilicon, silicon wafers, cells and modules; The newly installed capacity of photovoltaics was 54.88 GW, ranking first in the world for 9 consecutive years.

The added value of electronic information manufacturing industry increased by an average annual rate of 11.6%

Qiao Yueshan, director of the Department of Electronic Information of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that the scale of China's electronic information manufacturing industry has reached a new level, from 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of the added value of China's electronic information manufacturing industry has reached 11.6%, the operating income has increased from 7 trillion yuan to 14.1 trillion yuan, and the total profit has reached 828.3 billion yuan. The revenue of software and information technology service industry increased from 2.5 trillion yuan to 9.5 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 16%; Total profits in 2021 reached 1.2 trillion yuan, double those in 2015.

In the past ten years, the innovation ability of China's new generation of information technology industry has continued to improve. Qiao Yueshan pointed out that technological innovation in the fields of integrated circuits, new displays, and fifth-generation mobile communications has emerged intensively, and the pace of development in the fields of ultra-high-definition video, virtual reality, and advanced computing has further accelerated. The iteration of product innovation such as basic software, industrial software, and emerging platform software has been accelerating, and the supply capacity has been continuously enhanced.

The industrial structure has achieved new breakthroughs, and the supply capacity of intelligent terminal products such as mobile phones, color TVs, computers, and wearable devices has grown steadily. A number of domestic highest-generation LCD panel production lines in the world were put into production, the fully flexible AMOLED panel production line was shipped in batches, and 8K ultra-high definition, narrow bezel, full screen, folding screen, transparent screen and other innovative products were launched for the world for the first time.

Qiao Yueshan also said that software products and solutions for typical application scenarios in education, finance, energy, medical care, transportation and other fields are constantly emerging. The development of new products and new applications such as automotive electronics, intelligent security, smart wearables, and smart health care has achieved solid results, and application scenarios such as virtual reality and ultra-high-definition video have enriched user experience.

The scale of the electronic components industry exceeded 2 trillion yuan

When asked how to promote the development of the basic electronic components industry, Qiao Yueshan pointed out that electronic components are the cornerstone of supporting the development of the information technology industry, and also the key to ensuring the security and stability of the industrial chain supply chain. Taking multilayer chip ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) as an example, the average number of smart phones used exceeds 1,000, and the number of new energy vehicles used by each new energy vehicle exceeds 10,000.

In order to accelerate the high-quality development of the industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has strengthened policy guidelines and coordinated the development of the electronic components industry. Qiao Yueshan stressed that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology coordinated the use of relevant special projects to support the research and development and industrialization of a number of electronic components; Support the cultivation of more than 700 new "little giant" enterprises specializing in the field of electronic components; At the same time, strengthen the coordinated development of the industrial chain, guide industry associations to compile the "Electronic Components Industry System Framework Manual", and clarify the industrial development target; And guide relevant units to accelerate the formulation and revision of relevant national standards, and support the construction of public service platforms such as the improvement of electronic component quality and reliability technology.

At present, "China has formed the world's largest production and marketing scale, relatively complete categories, the industrial chain is basically complete electronic components industrial system, China's electroacoustic devices, magnetic material components, optoelectronic cables and other categories of electronic components output in the world first, the overall scale of electronic components industry has exceeded 2 trillion yuan." Qiao Yueshan said.

Qiao Yueshan pointed out that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to deeply implement the "Basic Electronic Components Industry Development Action Plan (2021-2023)" to strengthen the overall layout of the industry; Promote backbone enterprises to accelerate breakthroughs in key research, and accelerate the research and development and industrialization of key technologies in the fields of 5G communications and new energy; At the same time, we will promote the strengthening of cooperation between electronic components and electronic materials, electronic special equipment and measuring instruments, and guide the upgrading of the basic electronics industry; And promote the construction of electronic components international trading center.

According to the research report of AVIC Securities, geopolitical conflicts, high inflation, repeated epidemics and other factors are superimposed, and the demand for consumer electronics terminals has continued to be sluggish and has not yet recovered. In the first half of 2022, due to the above-mentioned multiple macroeconomic unfavorable factors and the lack of innovation and iteration of consumer electronics products themselves, the weak demand for consumer electronics terminals has become an industry consensus. Affected by the sluggish demand for consumer electronics terminals, the price of memory chips continues to decline. Memory chips are called "semiconductor commodities", mainly reflected in the fact that their prices fluctuate based on supply and demand in the short term. Consumer electronics is a major traditional downstream application of memory chips, and its continued sluggish demand has also made inventory clearance and flow promotion the main theme of the recent storage industry, and some manufacturers exchange price for volume.

Four major measures to promote the healthy development of the photovoltaic industry

In terms of promoting the innovation and development of the photovoltaic industry, Qiao Yueshan said that in recent years, the scale and market application of China's photovoltaic industry have achieved rapid development. In 2021, the output of polysilicon, silicon wafers, cells and modules in the main links of the photovoltaic industry chain will reach 506,000 tons, 226.6 GW, 197.9 GW and 181.8 GW respectively, accounting for more than 70% of the global output; The newly installed capacity of photovoltaics was 54.88 GW, ranking first in the world for 9 consecutive years.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued and implemented policies such as the "Specification Conditions for the Photovoltaic Manufacturing Industry" and the "Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of the Smart Photovoltaic Industry (2021-2025)" to guide the rational planning and layout of the photovoltaic industry and intelligent upgrading. At the same time, we will support the construction of photovoltaic industry organizations, build a communication and exchange platform, and encourage the photovoltaic industry to "go global" and strengthen international cooperation along the "Belt and Road".

Qiao Yueshan pointed out that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will strengthen the overall planning of the industry and accelerate the high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry:

First, continue to guide the healthy development of the industry. Implement policies related to the "14th Five-Year Plan", regulatory conditions for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, intelligent photovoltaic innovation action plans, and coordinated development of the photovoltaic industry chain supply chain, etc., to guide the continuous transformation and upgrading of the industry.

The second is to accelerate the promotion of industrial integration and innovation. Issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Energy Electronics Industry" to promote innovative breakthroughs in solar photovoltaics, new energy storage batteries, key terminal applications, key information technologies and products.

The third is to strengthen public service guarantees. Continue to optimize the industrial development environment, support the construction of industry associations, etc., and strengthen the integration of industry to support the development of the photovoltaic industry. Accelerate the revision and improvement of the photovoltaic standard system, and promote the construction of public service platforms such as photovoltaic module recycling and carbon footprint verification.

The fourth is to comprehensively deepen international cooperation. Encourage the domestic photovoltaic industry to strengthen international exchanges, carry out cooperation in production capacity, technology, standards, talents and other aspects, jointly promote the development and application of photovoltaic industry, and help the global response to climate change。

Recently, the National Energy Administration held a video conference on the analysis of the national renewable energy development and construction situation in August, and stepped up preparations for the third batch of wind and solar bases. The meeting requested that the first batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases be further promoted to be completed and connected to the grid, and the construction of supporting energy storage and peaking facilities should be accelerated to ensure that they are completed and put into operation simultaneously; The second batch of base projects will complete the selection of owners as soon as possible and start construction as soon as possible; The third batch of base projects should pay close attention to organizing and carrying out relevant work.

Guotai Junan Research Report pointed out that with the policy end to accelerate the construction of large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases, to ensure that energy storage and peak regulation facilities are completed and put into operation at the same time; The time-of-use electricity price mechanism has landed, the peak-to-valley price difference has widened into a trend, the future energy storage demand is expected to grow rapidly, and the operational profitability of energy storage power stations will gradually increase. New forms of energy storage are taking shape, and the trillion market is beginning to take shape.
